The Best Book on Old Irish
An older book published by 'the Venerable' Rudolf Thurneysen (an affectionate 'venerable') first in German way back in the last century, but translated into English by the two greats, Osborn Bergin and David Binchy, this grammar is still the best book for studying the early Medieval language of the Gael. Don't be fooled by the title. It's just as applicable to Scots Gaelic, but it is not for the pusilanimous or those prone to feinting spells. Approach only with offerings of blood and whiskey.
