Finally, a viable alternative to the ubiquitous iPod
I'm in love. (completely and utterly unsolicited testimonial, I'm not getting paid by Sony, etc. etc.)
My Sony Network Walkman NW-HD1, fresh from Sony's Vancouver Service Centre with a free firmware upgrade to add features. It's actually slightly smaller (shorter, narrower, AND thinner) than a standard deck of cards, and it makes my BlackBerry (left) look huge in comparison.
For the same price as iPod, I have a smaller, thinner, lighter device (112 grams or 3.9 ounces), that has a 30-hour battery life and the potential to store 12,000 to 13,000 songs: my entire CD collection and then some :-)
AND I'm not forced into buying only from the iTunes store and in Apple's proprietary format. I can buy my tunes anywhere and in any format (MP3, WMA, etc.) and still load them onto it. (Since this latest firmware upgrae, anything other than MP3 will be converted to Sony's atrac3plus format).
woohoo!
